This is Ms. Lewis’ first public appearance since she was attacked by a fan at Waterstones Bookstore last week during her book signing.

Peter Kowalczyk, 29, reportedly punched Leona in the side of the head and has been arrested ahead of his October 26th court date.

Of the incident, Leona wrote on her website, “Yesterday was a horrible shock and left me extremely hurt and upset. I’m very sorry to those I wasn’t able to meet at the signing.”

Now I have heard it all, I know that there will be jealous people around regardless of your situation but this guy is insane!!! The dude that punched leona Lewis in her head did it because.....he was JEALOUS!

It was revealed that Peter Kowalczyk tried and failed to get on the TV show that made Leona a household name, X Factor. He was immediately turned down for the show and envied Leona for winning!

Because clearly it was all Leona's fault that he didn't make it! Ridiculous!

What a loser!

Peter was been taken to a psychiatric hospital after he was sectioned. He shall remained there until he is to appear in court.

What a horrible situation poor Leona is in now. The ones that really lose out are her real, non-psycho fans who probably won't see her out in public for awhile.

We just hope she is feeling better and can find a way to put this behind. She has a real gift and it shouldn't be wasted with her in hiding, though we don't blame her for laying low for a few days.

This poor girl how traumatic this experience is I wish her well.

Leona Lewis attacker has been charged

You have to be sick to walk up to a woman and punch her in the face...punch her anywhere actually and thankfully he is where he belongs. What is going on in the world?

Twenty three-year-old Peter Kowalczyk was charged with assault this afternoon after punching Leona Lewis during her book signing this week.

The Metropolitan Police announced that he will be appearing before the City of Westminster Magistrates' Court in two weeks on October 26th. As of now, the man has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

Hopefully he will stay there for quite sometime
