How did you feel about Monique winning that award? If you ask my opinion it's no great big thing. I mean honestly yet ANOTHER woman of color won an award for playing an ignorant beast...wth are we happy about? How about one of us win an award for playing a great role, non stero type and non effing ignorant.....how about them apples?
hmm. i think that in order for that to happen, we'd have to have an all around turn around in the black community in general. unfortunately, there are people like Precious all over the country. people with hateful mothers who choose men over their kids. i think she deserved to win simply because she did play a great role. it takes a lot to convey what she did to make me sick to my stomach just from watching. until black people cease all ignorance, and these kind of issues cease to exist in the black community, there will always be a story like this that needs to be told, and great actors will be needed to convey the message.
